Welcome to the Education Department
he primary idea of this website is to raise awareness about church run schools in the Vanuatu Mission. It is a website run by the Education Department of the Vanuatu Mission.
Most of the schools listed on this website are primary schools located throughout the country. Most of the schools are run by local churches - with minimal or no support from the Mission Headquarters.
Any support offered by the Vanuatu Mission HQ is in the form of training of untrained teachers who are teaching in these primary, local church run schools.
The mission of the Education department is to enable education leaders throughout the region to pursue the church’s educational vision of developing each school’s ability to restore God’s image in its students.
The activities of the department focus on achieving five key goals:
- Ethos – to ensure all schools exhibit an obvious Adventist ethos which includes a strong spiritual tone and a nurturing learning environment
- People – to develop supportive and cooperative relationships amongst all levels of Adventist education and other departments of the church
- Curriculum – to ensure that there is a well-resourced and balanced curriculum that is professionally delivered and meets the students’ learning needs both now and in the future
- Financial Resources – to develop strategies that will adequately fund the strategic direction taken by the department
- System – to develop a high quality system of education that facilitates the church’s educational vision.
Schools
The Seventh-day Adventist Church operates more than 5,800 schools worldwide with a total enrolment of more than 1 million students. The Seventh-day Adventist Church is authorised to administer the Adventist Education Authority in Vanuatu. 34 Schools are registered.Our Vision is to deliver the highest Quality Christian Education in Vanuatu in an Adventist learning enviroment.Our Mission is to lead students into a saving relationship with Jesus, encourage each other to develop principled character,motivate and enable them to pursue excellence in learning and prepare them to take a purpose place in the community.
